Goodbye, Oracle
In aviation, there is a type of accident known as Controlled Flight into Terrain. It means that a perfectly good aircraft under full control is unintentionally flown into the ground by the pilot.
That's what Oracle is heading for, and I've decided to bail out of that aircraft. Many of the organizations and people I have worked with in the Oracle community have left ahead of me and are now safely on the ground, packing up their parachutes and moving to greener pastures.
My life goal remains to help people use appropriate technology to achieve their goals. In 2020, I will continue working towards that with projects and advisory work for IT organizations, and I will be interviewing CIOs for my upcoming book "Making IT Live up to its Promise."
There won't be any more Oracle Watch newsletters or tweets, but if you would still like to hear from me on general technology topics, you can subscribe to the Technology That Fits newsletter. If you are interested in living a healthy, happy, and successful life in IT, you can also sign up for the Spiritual Programmer newsletter .
I wish you a successful 2020, whether you decide to stay with Oracle or will be leaving like me.
Best regards
